Outcomes in Canvas
Status - Approved

Tool Description
Outcomes is a feature in Canvas that allows you to identify and assess student learning in one or more courses. Originally designed to assess Student Learning Outcomes, Outcomes can be used for so much more. Once an Outcome is identified, it can be added to a rubric or attached to a quiz/test question to assess student learning. Faculty can choose to include the assessed score in the students’ grade or track it separately.
Overview
The Outcomes feature is available in Canvas and is added at the College level and department level, allowing assessment data to be aggregated across multiple sections of a course, at the program level, the department level, and even the college level. Assessment scores can be set at the subaccount level to ensure consistency of data across the entire subaccount level and to align with outside accreditation agencies. The resulting data can be used for accreditation, course improvement, and analysis of student learning.
