Tool Description
The Microsoft Education LTI is designed to enhance learning by connecting various tools such as Microsoft Teams, OneNote Class Notebooks, Teams Meeting, and OneDrive to Canvas LMS through a simple, unified system. This integration facilitates a more cohesive and interactive learning environment, enabling educators to streamline their workflows, improve collaboration, and provide students with a richer, more engaging educational experience.
With the introduction of the Microsoft Education LTI, Microsoft is also deprecating the Microsoft Teams LTI effective 9/15/2025 as well consolidating Microsoft OneDrive LTI and Office 365 LTI at a later date. This move aims to simplify workflows and enhance interoperability between products.
Starting Fall 2025, given that Microsoft is ending support for the Microsoft Teams LTI on 9/15, we disabled the Microsoft Teams integration, but did not remove it.
The LMS teams will continue testing Microsoft Education LTI and its functionality for future integration (tentatively scheduled in Spring 2026).
