Mediasite is a great way to store content and add it to a course. Prior to uploading a presentation to Mediasite, ensure the location of the presentation is known to you in your computer files. To upload a presentation to Mediasite:

1. Navigate to Settings in the course navigation pane.
2. Navigate to the tool list on the right side of the page and select the My Mediasite icon. Your My Presentations dashboard will open.
   1. If prompted, authorize Mediasite to use Canvas
3. In the top left corner, click Add Presentation.
4. Click Choose File to upload a video file.
5. Navigate to the file in your system's folders that needs uploading and select open.
6. Enter a Title, Description, and then choose a Destination file by selecting Change and then User Channel. Select your course channel from the drop down options. 
7. Click Create Presentation.
8. The video may take some time to successfully upload.
9. In the screen that appears, make any necessary adjustments to the video.

After following these steps, the video should be ready to be used in a course.

Once a presentation has been uploaded to Mediasite, it can be embedded into a module within Canvas. This allows students to seamlessly access the video without leaving Canvas. To add the video to a module:

1. Navigate to Mediasite Collection on the course navigation pane.
2. Locate the presentation that needs to be added and click on the title.
3. On the right sidebar, click Share Presentation.
4. Click Copy to copy the link.
5. Click Modules on the course navigation pane.
6. Locate the module that the video will be added to and click + on the right side of the module.
7. In the dropdown menu, select External URL.
8. Paste the URL in the URL box and add a Page Name.
9. Click Add Item.

Once a presentation has been uploaded to Mediasite, it can be embedded into a page within Canvas. This allows students to seamlessly access the video without leaving Canvas. To add it to a new Canvas page:

1. Navigate to Pages in the course navigation pane.
2. Click View All Pages in the top left.
3. Click + Page in the top right corner.
4. Enter a name for the page and any additional settings.
5. In the top menu bar, click the Mediasite icon.
   1. If the icon is not visible, click the down arrow next to the plug icon and locate Mediasite.
6. Locate the presentation that needs adding and click Add to [Course Name].
   1. Select the method that the presentation will be embedded with.
7. The video should now be embedded.
8. Add any additional content to the page and select Save.

Instructors can also use Mediasite to create quizzes within videos. This is easy in Mediasite and offers an alternative to using SCORM in some cases.
Mediasite allows you to upload presentation and add quizzes to the presentation. This allows instructors to assess what students are learning while watching a presentation. After uploading a presentation, to add a quiz:

1. Navigate to the presentation in Mediasite.
2. Click Edit Quizzes on the right sidebar.
3. Choose they type of quiz you would like to attach. Each will adjust the Settingssection.
   1. Each quiz type has it’s benefits. However, if you would like to use it as a grade, click Scored.
4. Add a title, description and select Next.
5. On the new screen, click +Quiz.
6. Enter a Title, description, and the position (time) the quiz will appear when watching the video.
7. Under the newly created quiz, select Add Question.
8. Fill out the prompt with the appropriate information.
9. Repeat steps 7-8 until you have added all the questions for that section of the video.
10. Repeat steps 5-9 to add questions at additional quizzes to the video.
11. Select Save in top menu.

The quiz should now be ready to add to Canvas. Students will watch the video and complete the quizzes. If the presentation is added to an Assignment in Canvas, Mediasite will pass the result back to Canvas.

Once a Mediasite presentation has been created with a quiz, that quiz can be linked to an Assignment in Canvas to be used as a grade. To add the quiz to the assignment:

1. Navigate to Assignments in the course navigation pane.
2. Click +Assignment in the top right corner.
3. Fill out the appropriate settings for the assignment.
4. Under Submission Type, select External Tool.
5. Click the Find button.
6. In the pop-up window, locate Mediasite Assignment.
7. Locate the Mediasite presentation that needs added and click Add to [Course Name].
   1. Choose the method that the video will be attached with.
8. In Canvas, click Select.
9. Save and Publish the assignment.

Mediasite will passback the grade to Canvas. Any differences between points will automatically be converted. For example, if the Mediasite presentation quiz is only worth 10 points and a student receives 9/10, but is labeled as 100 points in Canvas, Canvas will convert the score to 90/100.
