Interim Exam Guidance for eCampus Users 9/30/20 to 10/2/20

Interim Exam Guidance for eCampus Users 9/30/20 - 10/2/20

Over the past few weeks, Texas A&M University’s instance of Blackboard (eCampus) has been unreliable during peak exam times. The LMS teams have, and will continue, to meet with leadership at Blackboard daily until there is resolution from Blackboard.

Yesterday we received some guidance from Blackboard on how to configure exams (see below). The total number of students scheduled to take common exams tonight through Friday evening does not approach the numbers that were scheduled last week when Texas A&M University experienced significant issues with Blackboard. However, at this time Blackboard cannot guarantee the system will function without issue until a software patch is installed. Blackboard will not have the software patch available for installation prior to exams scheduled between now and Friday evening.

The Office for Academic Innovation will have staff reviewing help tickets during common exams scheduled for the rest of this week. Blackboard also has a schedule of all Texas A&M University common exams and monitors our instance nightly. Please note that if Blackboard experiences degradation or an outage from now through Friday night, support staff will do their best to provide guidance, but cannot provide guaranteed resolution to system issues that fall under Blackboard’s purview.

Interim Guidance for Texas A&M University Exams (provided by Blackboard):
  • Do not deliver exams from a large course (over 300 students)
  • Create course shells that are smaller than 300 students for the exam delivery only

The Office for Academic Innovation is available to help you set up your exam in accordance with this interim guidance, if needed. Contact the Office for Academic Innovation by email (aihelp@tamu.edu) or by phone (979) 458-3417 if you need support.

Additional communication will be sent later this week for exams scheduled next week as we have updated information to share from Blackboard.
